The drivers wait at the Temple for 5 days, sleeping on rugs behind their buses.

Once a quarter buses from Ivory Coast arrive at the Temple. There are two stakes and each sponsers two temple excursions a year. They formed this plan when the Temple was dedicated and have maintained the commitment. During the summer when schools are out, many youth make the trip as their youth conference. Sister Markham had fun taking pictures of youth from the Abobo Stake recently. They speak very limited English and her French is nonexistant, so this was a communication game which everyone enjoyed. Sister Markham came back to the office nostalgic about her years teaching early morning seminary in Texas and New Jersey. Stalwart youth of the Church are much the same wherever they are. Many of the older youth in this group were making their second Temple trip. They were happy, having fun, but serious about the blessings of the gospel in their lives. These are youth living in a country with very fragile peace, who have witnessed civil war. The young women preferred to be in groups, the older young men were goofy for the camera, and according to Sister Markham, the Deacons were adorable.
